Chapter 5- Hiding in the Garden

HetaliaXReader

You dropped your bag, panting heavily. You glanced back to make sure nobody had come after you, relived when you saw no one. You stared at the ground for a while, suddenly feeling guilty. Feli, Antonio, Feli’s friends, and, even Lovino sometimes, seemed so nice. You could definitely see yourself becoming friends with them all and that was the problem. You were trying to be rebellious to your parents. If you made any friends, even just one, especially if it was a boy, your parents would be ecstatic. Well, your mother would, and you wanted her to think you were miserable. Which you were…right?

Sighing, you wiped the sweat off your forehead and picked up your bag. Standing up straight, you looked in front of you and saw that you had stopped in front of two big glass doors that led out to the garden you had noticed when you first came to the school. You smiled, figuring that it would be the best place to go to be alone and you had been planning to explore the garden anyway. Pushing your way through the doors, you blinked rapidly when the sunshine hit your (e/c) eyes. After you could focus them again, you gazed out at the garden.

“Wow…”, you breathed. Just ahead of you, stairs led down to a pathway that had bushes of flowers on either side. They weren’t even the same flowers the whole way; there were so many different ones, some you’d never even seen before! Past the flower bushes, there was a small pond with a fountain in the middle, spewing water out into the air majestically. The pathway branched out, going left, right, and forward. Going left, there was a field, where you could see butterflies and dragonflies fluttering around. There was a greenhouse back there too.  To the right, there were a bunch of benches and a few picnic tables that some people were sitting at. Continuing forward, there was almost a mini forest, with all kinds of trees. A light breeze went through the area, making flower petals and leaves dance in the wind. It was gorgeous.

You walked on, turning your head constantly to take in everything around you. You never expected to find a place as beautiful as this at a school. You reached the pond, looking down into the water at your reflection. Your (h/c) locks were flopped down into your face while your (e/c) eyes were bright with curiosity. Looking past your reflection, you could see coins at the bottom of the pond. Some you recognized, like pennies or nickels, but most of them were foreign. You were tempted to take some of them out to look at them, but you felt like if someone saw you, you would get in trouble. Shrugging, you glanced around, wondering which pathway to take. The field didn’t look too interesting and you were sure you wouldn’t be allowed in the greenhouse, so going left was pointless. Down the right pathway, you could see that it opened up to an area where there were tons of tables. Lots of kids were eating lunch there and you recognized a few from your history class.

You frowned, thinking that you would probably be over there with Feli, Kiku, and Ludwig right now if you hadn’t ran away. You felt extreme guilt flood through you and you turned away from the pathway, tearing up. You didn’t mean to be cold to them, but…you just wanted your old friends back. Dragging your feet a little, you headed down the path towards the trees. You watched the birds and small animals like squirrels dart around in the tree branches, grinning a little. You sat at the base of a big oak tree, setting your bag next to you and leaning back. You closed your eyes, listening to the sounds all around you and before you realized it, you fell asleep.

“Hello, are you ok?” a female voice was saying.

You opened your eyes to see two girls watching you with concern. The first one had pretty long brown hair and green eyes, while the other smaller girl had short blonde hair and green eyes.

“Who are you?” you asked, shrinking back from them a little.

“I’m Elizabeta and this is my friend, Lilli”, the brown-haired girl answered, “We were just walking by when we saw you sleeping here.”

  “O-oh, I’m (f/n)”, you gulped, “I didn’t mean to fall asleep!”

“If you are tired, then it’s ok to take a nap”, Lilli said kindly, “But the next class is going to starting soon, so you better hurry to your next class”.

“Oh!” you exclaimed, standing up and grabbing your bag quickly. You pulled out your schedule, looking at it with distress. Your next class was English and you sighed with relief when you remembered passing the room while going to Spanish.

“Thanks for waking me up! I really appreciate it!” you gushed, racing off to the building and giving the girls a wave good-bye.

You ran through the halls, ignoring the strange looks some kids gave you. You didn’t care if you looked rattled; you just wanted to get this next class over with. Then you would have only one more period left and then you could go home!

You turned the corner sharply and you looked up in alarm when you saw a kid standing right where you were heading. You had too much momentum and couldn’t stop, causing you to crash into him from behind. The two of you fell in a tumbling heap onto the floor and you felt both of your bags open, their contents spilling out onto the floor.

“Ow, that bloody hurt!” the boy exclaimed, bringing a hand up to his forehead and rubbing it gingerly.

“I-I’m so sorry!” you stuttered, trying to scramble back up but slipping on a book and falling back on top of him. Your eyes locked with his and you were startled by the beautiful shade of green they were. They looked like emeralds!

You both blushed a bright red as it sunk in how close your faces were to each other and that you were still on top of him. You muttered another quick apology, which came out as more of a squeak, as you scurried backwards to let him up. He sat up a little slowly, still keeping a hand to his head.

“I know you”, he said in a thick British accent, raising a bushy eyebrow, “You’re (f/n) (l/n), the new girl”.

“Yeah, I am”, you replied, suddenly remembering where you’d seen him before. “And you’re that guy from history class who argued with that loud kid. ‘Mr. Kirkland’, right?”

The British boy chuckled, “Only the teachers call me by my last name. Just call me Arthur”.
This is my 100th deviation! I was planning on using something Hetalia related in Paint but I'm not good with computer art (I was using a base) and this story unexpectedly got popular! I've always been critical about my writing; thinking it totally sucked, but I feel so much better from all the nice comments and all the favorites I've gotten! I just wanted to let you guys know that you made my day (past couple of days actually)

About this chapter...honestly, it's kind of a filler. I tried to force myself to describe the scenery more in this chapter rather than focusing on dialouge (which I tend to do a LOT). ^^; But you get to meet Elizabeta and Lilli (Hungary and Liechtenstein). And of course, you run into (literally) Arthur Kirkland. I freaking love writing stuff with him in it. :iconsexyenglandplz: :iconiloveyouplz: lol

I don't own Hetalia (as much as I'd like too) or you.
